In this second part of the article “How to sell your products in Iran” we will continue to answer how to get into Iran’s market.
Promotions are usually done by media. The main media in Iran unlike other countries are radio and TV and environmental as people activities are mostly outdoors and then its internet, magazines and newspapers. Some media in Iran are governmental owned and some are private. Radio and TV are governmental and environmental is also governmental which partly is rented out. Although media advertising is much more than mentioned here like cinema .SMS, and environmental ads on city buses, metro, and home cinema that in some occasions has a higher circulation. There is a lot of area that can be covered by BTL advertising in Iran like sampling, roadshow .etc.… and in regards to charges were media is owned by the government they charges foreign brands higher prices or exempt them from any discount, but a discount can be obtained from privately owned, however this can only be done by an Iranian advertising agency which can do packaging, programming, buy media then publish the message.
The principle of branding in Iran is just like any other countries ,but the important point in Iran is a mixture ethnicity and different weather ,Iran has sea ,jungles, mountains ,deserts .it has snow and ski .and at the same time you can see these in different cities of Iran
In North West of Iran we have cold weather like Russia .in north we have the verdure of Europe, In Yazd we have the hot and dry weather of Egypt. And in south Iran we have access to international waters .and in north Iran we have the Caspian Sea. So for branding and to sell products it’s important to know the ethnicity, weather, and lifestyle, to be able to plant the idea in consumers. Although this is not a hard job a lot of foreign and national brands have been successful.

If the advertisement is on radio and TV channels a permit from the ministry of broadcasting which has its Owen rules and regulation. And it’s an independent ministry from the ministry of guidance .therefore even if it has a permit from ministry of guidance. Does not mean the ministry of broadcasting will allow it to air on TV and vice versa, even an ad has a permission to be done on billboard may not get permission to be in magazines, newspapers. Even a billboard can be advertised in one city but rejected in another one. So for every TV radio billboard, magazine ad a permit is required from every department and ministry which can easily be obtain by a good advertising agency in Iran.
